Younes Abouyaaqoub, the main suspect in the terrorist attack that led to the death of 13 people in Barcelona, is currently missing.
After the attack, the police reported that they were searching for an individual approximately one meter seventy centimeters tall, dressed in a white shirt with blue stripes. Now, exclusive images obtained by the newspaper EL PAÍS show a young man matching that description, walking through the aisles of the Boquería market and leaving shortly after the dramatic incident.
The main hypothesis that the police are working on is that Younes Abouyaaqoub fled on foot through the La Boqueria market and headed towards the university area, where he subsequently stole a car to continue his escape.
According to the police report, while driving the stolen Ford Focus, he ran a police checkpoint on Diagonal Avenue in the Catalan capital, where he struck an officer.
The car was abandoned a few kilometers later, and inside was found a young man, Pau Pérez, who had been murdered with a stabbing weapon.
