On Thursday, the first cesarean section delivery of triplets of the year took place at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin University Hospital in Holguín province, with both the mother and the newborns in perfect health.

"The patient resides in the Pedernales People's Council and is part of the Julio Grave de Peralta health area in the city of Holguín," reported the official newspaper Ahora on Facebook.

The outlet thanked Dr. Irán for the information and also expressed gratitude to the medical team "that intervened in this beautiful act, which made this birth possible."

For her part, the state journalist Lourdes Pichs noted on the social network X that the birth took place on Thursday morning.

Although no source provided the birth weight of the babies or their current condition or gender, the posted images suggest that they appear to be healthy.

The birth of triplets is always newsworthy, especially in Cuba, a country severely affected by an aging population, low birth rates, and the current migration crisis.

In 2023, several births of triplets were recorded in the nation. A Cuban mother from Ciego de Ávila gave birth to three little ones thanks to assisted reproduction procedures available in that region.

The incident occurred on October 24 at the Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola Provincial General Teaching Hospital, where the children Isabela, Alisen, and Liam were born, each weighing less than 2,000 grams, reported the state-run newspaper Invasor.

Another young Cuban welcomed healthy triplets into the world at the provincial maternity hospital in Matanzas last June, marking the first case of its kind at that facility in 2023.

The little ones, Eriberto and Enilberto, weighed 2,000 grams, while their baby sister Naliachi weighed 1,950 grams.

The pregnancy was able to progress satisfactorily until 34.5 weeks, which is unusual in these cases, according to the Cuban News Agency.
