Users on social media are expressing outrage over the neglect that persists at the Sur Children's Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, commonly known as La Colonia, where dogs and cats roam freely.
The social communicator Yosmany Mayeta shared on Facebook a complaint from several individuals who sent images showing dogs and cats roaming freely in the hallways of the hospital.
The independent journalist questioned, "Children's hospital or veterinary clinic?" while sharing images showing a dog and a cat in the wards alongside patients and their families.
Yosmany Mayeta recalled that, in recent days, this hospital facility faced criticism due to power outages, lack of hygiene in the bathrooms, poor service, and substandard food.
"And now there are dogs and cats inside the hospital wards," he noted. "It leaves much to be desired when it comes to hygiene and sanitary conditions."
Recently, the top officials of Santiago de Cuba visited this healthcare center to oversee the "hygiene and sanitation campaigns" that were conducted in La Colonia.
The publication states that Manuel Falcón, the governor of the province, boasted that these measures aim to "ensure a healthy environment" in the very hospital where dogs and cats roam freely and without consequences.
