The National Hurricane Center (NHC) indicated that there is a trough over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and it is expected to cause heavy rain in Florida.
The floods are already starting to be noticed in Miami. In Downtown, Brickell, and Hialeah, the sidewalks and roads were flooded since Tuesday afternoon.
The authorities warn that there is a low probability of a tropical depression forming off the southeast coast of the United States, but it is necessary to remain vigilant until the end of this week.
The National Meteorological Service issued an alert for heavy rain in southern Florida. It is expected that precipitation will increase in the coming hours.
The heaviest rains are expected near the Gulf coast from Wednesday night through the end of the week. There is a risk of localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas along the east and Gulf coasts, as well as in flood-prone or poorly drained areas.
The detected system has remained practically stationary in the last few hours, but it is expected to move towards the northeast, crossing Florida and heading towards the southeastern coast of the country.
Although the upper-level winds are only marginally favorable, some slow development is possible as the system moves out to sea.
Regardless of its development, heavy rains are forecasted to continue in parts of the Florida peninsula over the next few days.
Authorities recommend that residents stay informed about the weather conditions and take necessary precautions to avoid incidents related to flooding.
