The Provincial Transportation Company of Havana reported the immediate suspension of the maritime service of the Regla Ferry, due to the inclement weather conditions and solid waste dragged by the rivers into the bay, which could affect the vessels.
The heavy rains on Saturday have caused severe flooding in areas of Havana, especially in coastal municipalities. This situation worsened the drag of waste that accumulates in rivers, due to insufficient sanitation by the government, which has contributed to the pollution of the bay.
This is not the first time that the Regla Ferry has been affected by weather conditions and the increase of garbage in the bay.
Just a few days ago, a similar event caused the service to shut down on the eve of the visit to Havana by the Russian war fleet and the nuclear submarine Kazan.
The authorities are asking users to take the necessary precautions and stay tuned for future updates on the resumption of the Regla Ferry service.
It is recommended that citizens stay informed through official channels and look for alternative transportation options while this situation persists, something not easy in the midst of the current crisis in the country.
