The renowned actor and film director Jorge Perugorría announced the start of rehearsals for his new movie, Neurótica Anónima.
The National Film Award 2024 shared images on their Instagram profile of this moment and details of the feature film that will be under their direction.
“Today we begin rehearsals! Mirtha Ibarra and Roberto Perdomo will play the roles of Iluminada and Osvaldo in Neurótica Anónima, a film that we will shoot during the month of August in Havana, Cuba,” wrote the artist on this social network, along with a photo of the two main characters.
According to the Cubaactores portal, the film is based on the homonymous play written by Mirtha Ibarra, which tells the story of a woman, Iluminada, who after studying to be a Literature teacher, ends up working as an usher in a cinema in Havana.
When cinema is in decline, Iluminada finds herself struggling to prevent the demolition of the place, "accompanied by the spiritual presence of iconic actresses such as Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Vivien Leigh, Anna Magnani, and Audrey Hepburn," as mentioned in the publication from that place.
The work was acclaimed in its theatrical version, and now Perugorría has taken on the task of bringing it to the big screen, adding it to his catalog as a film director.
