A young Cuban model residing in Bolivia suffered a motorcycle accident, and his family and friends are asking for help to cover medical expenses.
The boy, named José, has already undergone surgery twice, but next week he must undergo another surgery.
"He is from Cuba and is in the country only with his brother who is also very young," said Yescenia Guardia Carrasco, an entrepreneur and employee of Mister Teen International, on Facebook.
"We are raising money to help with medical expenses. Any financial assistance is welcome," he added.
José's mother, Yoleinnia Salom, who resides in the United States, explained that her son's next surgery is the second on his leg. The doctors need to remove the pins and place a tibial intramedullary nail.
"I had already explained that in Bolivia health is very expensive, even for us who are in the US. It is not enough to pay for such costly treatments. The nail costs between 900 and 1,000 dollars," he detailed on his Facebook profile.
Yoleinnia clarified that although many people have helped them, almost 80% of everything José uses, syringes, medications, antibiotics, gauze... everything has to be bought. "They give us the prescription and we have to go out and buy it at any nearby pharmacy. That is the procedure of hospitals in Bolivia," she pointed out.
The young man was initially operated on for a pneumothorax. In his leg, he suffered an open fracture and they placed rods externally.
The woman shared on Facebook the ways in which donations can be made.
In the United States, his Zelle is 7867935330. Another way is to send money via Western Union to Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, to his other son, named Jorge Enmanuel Destrades Salom.
