The most visited theme park in the world is about to undergo the largest expansion in its history, with the addition of areas where visitors will be able to interact with Disney villains and other characters in magic-filled environments.
Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, is preparing for the opening of new lands and attractions inspired by some of the company's most iconic movies.
A land dedicated to villains in Magic Kingdom
For the first time, Disney plans to create a land dedicated exclusively to the villains of its stories in the Magic Kingdom park.
This new themed area will be inspired by the "evil villains you love to hate." Although Disney has not yet revealed which characters will be the stars, the land will include new dining options, shops, and two exciting attractions that will immerse visitors in the world of the most feared villains.
Expansion of Frontierland with Cars
Frontierland in Disney World will expand to include two new attractions based on Disney/Pixar's successful Cars franchise, which has grossed $1.4 billion at the global box office.
The expansion will offer a family attraction designed for the little ones, as well as an off-road vehicle race aimed at speed and adrenaline lovers.
Tropical Americas with Indiana Jones
Tropical Americas will present a new attraction inspired by "Indiana Jones," which will replace the current Dinosaur attraction.
Unlike the Indiana Jones attractions in other Disney parks, this one will offer a completely original story. Visitors will embark on an exciting adventure alongside the intrepid archaeologist, exploring a hidden and preserved Mayan temple in the heart of the jungle.
Monsters Inc. Laugh Factory
Monsters Inc. Laugh Factory is another of the new attractions that will be added to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It will allow visitors to enter the Laugh Factory and enjoy a suspended roller coaster, the first of its kind in Disney parks.
These new additions at Walt Disney World in Florida are designed to attract more visitors and offer innovative and exciting experiences, reaffirming its place as one of the world's most popular tourist destinations.
Disney raises prices at its parks.
The price increase in Disney parks has been a recurring topic in recent months, causing concern among families who wish to visit the famous entertainment destination.
In February 2024, it was reported that prices have reached record figures, leading many people to take out exorbitant loans to afford their vacations.
The costs of experiencing the park are comparable to planning a wedding, with a 47% increase in ticket prices since 2019. This context is worsened by increases in other services related to Disney, including cruises and dining experiences.
In March 2024, Walt Disney World announced an increase in ticket prices for the upcoming year, reflecting increases ranging from $5 to $10 depending on the type of ticket.
Disney faced a legal battle with the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, but the two parties reached an agreement on June 16, 2024, which includes an investment of $17 billion in the resort, as well as authorization to build a new theme park and expand its infrastructure, marking a new direction for the company in Florida.
