Leidys Martha Matos Salazar, a resident of Santiago de Cuba, used social media to request humanitarian aid for a family in a precarious situation in her community.
Through a message posted in the Facebook group "La Gente del Salao," Matos highlighted the challenging reality faced by this family from the La Redonda neighborhood, emphasizing the increasing poverty that affects many people in the region.
"This family is living in a difficult situation. We appeal once again for humanitarian assistance to all the mothers in the group who are always willing to help," stated the individual, who mentioned that a donation collection would be organized and provided the number 58121325 for those who wish to contribute.
Matos shared a gallery of images depicting a mother with three young children living in extreme poverty.
This request for assistance for a family in a precarious situation once again highlights the lack of action from the Cuban regime to address the growing poverty and basic needs of its population.
In July, the Cuban Observatory for Human Rights (OCDH) presented the VII Report on the State of Social Rights in Cuba 2024, highlighting revealing results about the Cuban reality.
The non-governmental organization highlighted in the document that "89% of Cuban families are suffering from extreme poverty," which is one percentage point higher than last year and 13% more than in 2022.
One of the most significant pieces of information highlights that "7 out of every 10 Cubans have stopped having breakfast, lunch, or dinner due to lack of money or food shortages."
