Following the devastating path of Hurricane Rafael through the province of Artemisa, Cuban leader Miguel Díaz-Canel stated on social media, in a triumphant tone, that “Cuba is standing strong and fighting.”

"Every time we face significant obstacles, knowing that we can overcome them, we begin to conquer them. Cuba is standing strong and fighting. We will prevail," the leader stated on the social media platform X, in an effort to address the criticisms directed at his handling of the crisis following Hurricane Oscar in Guantánamo.

In the days leading up to Hurricane Rafael's arrival in Artemisa, the Cuban leader has intensified his triumphalist rhetoric and communist propaganda in a futile attempt to convey calm and mask the chaotic situation the nation faces with a new massive blackout.

"We checked the country's weather situation early this morning. We are in constant communication with the areas that will experience the greatest effects of Hurricane Rafael. We have prepared well and will promptly move to recovery. Strength, Cuba!" expressed Díaz-Canel on social media X, hours before the hurricane struck and devastated Artemisa.

From the Presidency's account on the social media platform X, they also shared images of the president touring various locations in Havana, where brigades from the FAR, MININT, and MINAG were carrying out recovery work.

With the memory still fresh of the damage and deaths caused by Hurricane Oscar in Guantánamo, the regime has become engrossed in "washing" the image of ruler Díaz Canel.

Last Tuesday, while Rafael threatened the western side of the island, the president stated that the country was "prepared and organized" to face this new danger, a claim that contrasts sharply with the harsh reality of government management during the recent crisis.
