Damián Valdez-Galloso, the individual identified by the police as the perpetrator of the homicide of Cuban reggaeton artist El Taiger, was scheduled to appear before the Miami-Dade court for the second time this Friday; however, he refused to attend.
In statements to several media outlets from the court, Teresa Padrón, manager of El Taiger, confirmed the absence of the accused at this hearing.
"I can imagine why he doesn't want to show his face; he knows that everyone is watching him, that everyone hates him, and that everyone is demanding answers. Given the way he showed up yesterday, I can understand why he might not want to face us today," Teresa said.
According to the artist's manager, Damián's appearance in court this Friday was not linked to the case concerning El Taiger's murder, but rather to the sexual abuse accusation that is also against him and the violation of registration requirements with the authorities regarding this offense.
According to Teresa, the next hearing date for Damián Valdez-Galloso will be on November 22, when he will need to appear before the judge overseeing the murder case.
In connection with the crime against El Taiger, Valdez-Galloso faces several charges, including second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and possession of a firearm.
At the first hearing in Miami-Dade, Judge Mindy S. Glazer denied bail and questioned the prosecution about the charge of second-degree murder, suggesting that the circumstances could indicate a charge of first-degree murder, which carries a heavier penalty.
