A Cuban mother identified as Daimara Aliaga, residing in Jimaguayú, Camagüey, has requested assistance to feed her children after her husband was detained for participating in a protest.
Since October 17, her husband, Nelson Caballero Díaz, has been detained for protesting against the blackouts.
He was the sole provider for the family, the woman claims.
"I have no way to feed my two children," she explained.
She explains that she cannot work because her children are sick and require constant care.
Through social media, she shared that "I am home alone, unable to feed my children. The father of my kids has been in prison for over a month. My children are very young and sick. Please help us."
Independent journalist Jose Luis Tan Estrada also shared the case on social media to gather assistance.
She also shared her national currency card number [9206-0699-9190-5207] and requested contributions, whether financial or in kind, to help alleviate the difficult situation of Daimara and her two children.
"Any contribution is valuable: a peso, a candy, a like, or sharing this post. These children need it," he wrote.
Nelson was detained for speaking out against the prolonged power outages affecting that town in Camagüey.
According to testimonies from neighbors, the protest was peaceful, but the authorities detained him immediately.
Several Cubans have been detained in recent days for protesting against the endless blackouts on the island.
