A police vehicle from the Operative Guard collides with a motorcycle in Ciego de Ávila

A police vehicle collided with a motorcycle in Ciego de Ávila, leaving the motorcyclist hospitalized but in stable condition. Witnesses report that the officer was distracted. The prompt actions of the police have attracted criticism.

A traffic accident that occurred yesterday afternoon in the municipality of Gaspar, in the Cuban province of Ciego de Ávila, resulted in a motorcyclist being hospitalized.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred at 1:28 p.m. when a vehicle from the Operational Guard of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) failed to yield and collided with the motorcyclist, as reported by the Facebook page 'La Tijera'.

Although the motorcycle rider was taken to a hospital, witnesses claim that he was conscious and did not have any injuries that posed a threat to his life.

At the accident site, several police officers were deployed, and the involved vehicle was quickly removed from the scene, which sparked comments among those present about the apparent urgency to minimize the visibility of the event.

According to the testimonies, the accident was caused by the lack of attention of the officer driving the Operational Guard vehicle, who was apparently distracted at the time of the collision.

Incidents involving police vehicles are not new on the island. In May 2024, a patrol was involved in a triple accident in Havana.

In October of the same year, another collision between a patrol car and a truck in Holguín resulted in injuries to the officers traveling in the vehicle.

Unfortunately, a young motorcyclist lost his life in a similar incident in Santiago de Cuba, which took place in June 2024, when he was struck by a police vehicle.
