Trump wants to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico

Despite the absurdity of the idea, a Republican member of the House of Representatives from Georgia stated that she will introduce a bill to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

The elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, shared another of his "gems" this afternoon when he expressed his intention to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

"Let's change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of the United States, which sounds great. That covers a lot of territory, the Gulf of the United States, what a beautiful name. And it's fitting," he said at a press conference in Mar-a-Lago.

Despite the absurdity of the idea, a Republican businesswoman who is a member of the House of Representatives from Georgia announced that she will introduce legislation to rename the Gulf of Mexico.

"I will be introducing legislation ASAP to officially change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to its rightful name, the Gulf of the United States!" posted Marjorie Taylor Greene on her X account.

This is not Trump's first expansionist statement since he won the elections last November.

This Tuesday, he again threatened to try to regain control of the Panama Canal and even stated that he would not rule out the use of military or economic coercion to achieve this. He accused the Panamanian government of imposing excessive fees on American ships using this waterway and alleged that China was assuming a dominant role in its administration.

"The Panama Canal is vital for our country. It is operated by China. We handed it over to Panama, not to China, and they have abused that gift. That decision should never have been made," he emphasized.

In December, Trump expressed his interest in buying Greenland, motivated by "national security reasons and freedom around the world."

"The United States believes that ownership and control of Greenland are essential," he stated, a sentiment that did not sit well with the Danes.
