Florida authorities have revoked the license for liposuction and fat transfer surgeries for Cuban doctor Arnaldo Valls, local media reported.

Valls was accused of negligence. According to the report, the woman who underwent surgery in December 2017 at a clinic in Miami died from an embolism after he struck a vein while injecting fat into her buttocks, which led to cardiac arrest.

At that moment, the aesthetic center stated in a release that Dr. Valls had performed "thousands of procedures" and was "quite shocked" by the death of his patient.

Claudia Puentes, manager of Jolie Plastic Surgery, told the Miami Herald that the clinic learned of the news last Tuesday. "At this specific moment, the doctor will stop performing that particular procedure," and she clarified that Valls will appeal the decision.

According to the authorities' report, Valls studied general surgery, not plastic surgery. Although he claims to have completed weekend courses that certify him, Christopher Salgado, a medical expert who has worked on the case investigation, states that this is not enough to ensure the safety of a patient’s life.
