The Cuban santero Santiago Rivero Morales, involved in a shooting reported in Miami on August 30, celebrated his birthday in Cuba alongside Sandro Castro, who regarded him as "a good friend."
In his Instagram stories, Fidel Castro's controversial grandson posted a photo of himself embracing the babalawo, with the caption "with a good friend."
This refers to Rivero Morales, who was sought by the police last August for his alleged involvement in a shooting outside The Corner Club nightclub in Brickell, where a 22-year-old was injured.
The conflict began at the club, located at 1250 S Miami Avenue, and continued after the venue closed in the early hours of Monday.
It occurred between two groups of men who were heading to their cars parked nearby, according to local media that had access to the police report.
On that occasion, the police arrested Omar Iglesias Valdés and reported that they were searching for two suspected individuals: the babalawo Santiago Rivero Morales and Yosmani Rodríguez Granados.
One of the individuals involved, Manuel Barrios, told the detectives that he was heading to his car—a yellow Lamborghini—when Omar Iglesias Valdés threatened him with a knife.
According to his account, Iglesias Valdés's friend, Rivero Morales, 33 years old, went to a parked Mercedes-Benz, grabbed a gun, and fired at him and his friend, Lázaro Guzmán Bango.
Barrios said that it was then that Lázaro also pulled out a weapon and shot Rivero Morales, and both of them ran away.
Rivero Morales, Iglesias Valdés, 35 years old, and Rodríguez Granados, 22, began to pursue them, prompting Guzmán Bango to shoot at the trio.
For his part, Sandro Castro, grandson of the late dictator Fidel Castro, recently returned to the center of controversy after being seen celebrating while drinking beer and smoking tobacco in a bar in Havana that he manages.
In his Instagram stories, the young man boasted about how enjoyable the night is at his bar "EFE," located in the exclusive neighborhood of El Vedado.
There, he hosts guests, personalities from the entertainment industry, and apparently, his "good friends" residing in Miami.
