The Cuban American National Foundation (FNCA) reported on Wednesday the disappearance of activist Daniel Alfaro Frías since March 13.

That day, he was forcibly removed from his home and searched, according to the publication by the FNCA.

The statement does not provide further details and does not specify who broke into Alfaro's home.

It notes that at the time of his disappearance, the activist was the provincial delegate in Artemisa for the Opposition Movement for a New Republic (MONR).

CiberCuba observed that since March 13, Alfaro has not made any posts on Facebook, a social network where he is very active in reporting the issues in his hometown of Guanajay, located in the province of Artemisa, and throughout Cuba.

That day, he highlighted the poor state of transportation in Havana: “Santiago de las Vegas bus stop since 7:30 am, and nothing has left yet—not a P12, P13, or P14—and it's nearly 10:00 am. Hopeless, failed state Cuba.”

In April 2023, the farmer and opposition member lamented the loss of his crops due to a lack of resources to care for the fields, amid the food crisis affecting the country.

"Nothing is more sad and disheartening than watching your crops, which you worked so hard to cultivate, perish because you lack the means to care for them or water them. You lose your entire investment, along with the desire to keep pushing forward," wrote the resident of Artemisa on Facebook.

However, this is not the first time that this farmer and political activist has denounced the government's neglect of food producers.

In 2021, it was stated that there are indeed conditions in Cuba for food production and that the only blockade hindering this is the one imposed by the Communist Party.

Alfaro recounted that for years many people have fed for free on what he produces: "Without any ulterior motives, just to combat hunger, because I know it very well and understand the pain it causes. So don't talk anymore about the blockade if you don't mention the last name PCC."

This activist reported in 2018 the inhumane conditions and abuses faced by inmates at the Taco Taco prison in Artemisa, where he was incarcerated for a year.

"I felt like I was coming out of a small prison into a big one," he stated to the Martí Noticias portal after his release. He also spoke about the lack of medical care in prison, the beatings inflicted by the military, and the impunity that prevails in these facilities.
