Cuban Gilberto Morales is preparing to compete in the Musclemania Mexico contest, which will take place on June 8 in Mexico City, and Musclemania Latino, scheduled for November, with the goal of securing his participation in the continental and world event.
Morales, who is a model and fitness trainer by profession, stands 5 feet 7 inches tall (about 1.70 meters) and weighs 165 pounds (approximately 74.8 kilograms) of natural muscle, which is his main asset in participating as a contestant in fitness events, according to the Musclemania Latino event's Facebook page.
The young man explained that he follows a very strict training and nutrition routine: "After training, I consume proteins directly from meat, carbs from clean rice, and I always include a bit of vegetables in my diet."
"I like to keep it simple and functional," emphasized Morales, who will make his debut in this type of competition on June 8th in Mexico City during the Aztec chapter of the Musclemania championship.
The event will bring together athletes, sports models, and natural fitness bodybuilders from across Mexico.
There will be divisions for youth, beginners, and newcomers, as well as for veterans and experienced professionals, the competition's website emphasized.
According to the announcement, the event calls for men and women who "support and promote a healthy lifestyle."
In November, Muscle Latino will take place in Mexico, followed by the continental competition on the 22nd and 23rd of the same month in Hollywood, United States.
On its part, the Muscle Universe will take place on November 29 and 30 in the city of Las Vegas, also in the United States.
Bodybuilding is a sport that, despite the scarcity of food in Cuba, has its followers.
One of them is Gabriela, who served as a judge in Pinar del Río for six years but chose to take a different path in her professional life to dedicate herself to that specialty in the field of physical training.
Despite her love and dedication to law, this young Cuban is committed to fully embracing bodybuilding, a sport she has always been passionate about.
From the same province is Karla Pérez Rubier, a young dentist who is also passionate about her field.
"Two things caught my attention in particular: first, the opportunity for self-improvement in pursuit of a goal; second, the aesthetic beauty created by exercise. The latter is very important for us women," Pérez explained in statements to the local newspaper Guerrillero.
"The gym has been a turning point in my life. Sports, in general, bring with them rigorous discipline, and competitive bodybuilding in particular. In addition to training routines, it requires time for posing practice and a diet that is unique and specific to this sport; thus, the change is radical. In my case, I have taken it on with a very clear sense of responsibility," he explained.
