Changes and dismissals in the power structure in Cuba continue, and now it is the turn of the veteran Minister of Foreign Trade, Ricardo Cabrisas.
A brief note shared on the profile of Facebook by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) informs that the Government, at the request of the Council of State, has relieved Cabrisas of his responsibilities as head of the sector.
According to Cubadebate, Cabrisas remains in his position as Deputy Prime Minister.
As his successor in MINCEX, Oscar Pérez-Oliva Fraga was appointed, who served as the first deputy minister.
Pérez-Oliva, 53 years old, is an electronic engineer. He has extensive management experience of over 15 years in foreign trade, having served as a company director, deputy minister, and director of Business Evaluation in the Mariel Special Development Zone.
The appointment of Carlos Luis Jorge Méndez as the first deputy minister of MINCEX was also approved.
Jorge Méndez, 36 years old, holds a degree in Economics and has held various responsibilities in the field, ranging from specialist, advisor to the minister, director general of Foreign Investment, to deputy minister.
