The 20-year-old Cuban outfielder Yorman Licourt, who had reached an agreement with the Toronto Blue Jays last month, signed the contract in which he will receive around 600,000 dollars as a signing bonus.
Licourt "is represented by Thompson Agency Sport and trained by the Thor Hit Baseball Agency Academy," wrote sports journalist Francys Romero.
With the officialization of this Cuban in the Major League system, he becomes the sixteenth from the island to achieve an agreement in the current international period.
Yorman made his debut with Pinar del Río in the 62nd National Baseball Series, with which he had few opportunities, just 21 times at bat. However, he proved to be quite productive, with six runs batted in and five hits.
He left Cuba in October of last year, settling in Mexico, a country where he showcased his potential to several talent scouts.
So much so that several teams showed interest in the talented player, but it was finally the Blue Jays who managed to secure his signature to link him to their Minor League system.
