New details of the tragic traffic accident that occurred on Sunday afternoon in Camajuaní, Villa Clara, where one person died, have come to light.
The incident, which also left 26 injured, occurred when a Moskvitch collided with a Transgaviota bus heading from Cayo Santamaría to Abel Santamaría International Airport.
Henry Omar Pérez, who identifies himself as a communicator and member of the officialist Cuban Association of Social Communicators, reported on his Facebook that the victim (the driver of the car) was traveling alone and died at the scene.
"Of the 26 injured, only 10 remained hospitalized, all without life-threatening injuries," he noted in another post.
Finally, he revealed that "all six children involved in the accident are out of danger and slowly leaving the hospital."
The deceased was named Rafael and resided in the town of Meneses in Villa Clara.
Images shared on social media show that his car was practically destroyed. The bus, on the other hand, overturned and lost all the windshield glasses.
The accident took place after the Minerva Curve, in the area known as Carmita's Crossroads.
Although the official cause of the accident has not been made public, a user on social media claims that the Moskvitch veered off the road, the driver tried to get back on and lost control of the vehicle, crashing at high speed into the nearly stationary bus and flipping it over.
Initially it was said that one of the injured was reported to be in serious condition, but based on information from Omar Pérez, it is presumed that his condition has improved.
The bus was transporting 38 people from a tourist destination to the airport in the province. The official press has not specified whether there are any foreigners among the injured.
The injured were initially treated at the Octavio de la Concepción polyclinic in Camajuaní, but were later transferred to the Pediatric Hospital and the Arnaldo Milián Castro Hospital in Santa Clara.
