Cuban doctor Manuel Guerra, who left Cuba in 2022 after State Security threatened to imprison him for his criticisms of the regime, has just bought his first house in the United States.
After two years, three months, and seven days since arriving with his wife in their new country, the couple fulfilled a long-awaited project that in Cuba, not even with seven lifetimes of work, could they have achieved.
Today they handed us the keys to our first property in the USA, the first little house of my son Ian Guerra. With freedom, a clear goal generates a plan, which with discipline, dedication, and sacrifice is just a matter of time before it becomes a reality," he stated on Facebook.
"The product of honest work is what truly dignifies, as it gives value to the work carried out while romanticizing the idea of human improvement, since one always wants more of what makes them feel better, strives more if they know they can improve their family's status with it," he said.
Guerra advised Cubans who are arriving in the country or those who have been here for a short time and see the purchasing process as something distant, to focus and work based on their desire, as many times it is simpler than it seems.
For the lackeys who harassed me when I was on the Island, for the cyber-mobs that still roam my profile, for the high officials of the PCC and the snitches who tried to harm me just for dreaming of a free and prosperous Cuba, with everyone and for the good of all, swallow this," he said.
Above all, we thank the One above, who has not let go of our hand for a single second. Thank you, heavenly Father," he expressed.
Manuel Guerra, known for his opposition to the Castro regime, left Cuba in 2022, after his mother begged him to leave before ending up in prison.
He arrived in the United States in March of that year, after crossing several borders with his pregnant partner. In September, he announced the birth of their first son, whom they named Ian.
Last April, he obtained a license as a physician assistant in the United States.
"Once again, I will be doing what I consider part of my idiosyncrasy, serving and helping to enhance the quality of life of the patients who come through my hands," he said.
The young doctor was expelled from the hospital where he worked in Cuba for his social media posts denouncing the issues in the Cuban healthcare system.
