The Republican Party of the United States approved on Monday an electoral program that includes carrying out the largest deportation of migrants in the country's history in the event that their candidate, Donald Trump, wins the presidential elections on November 5th.
At the beginning of May, the former president had already announced that he will carry out the largest deportation operation if elected.
In an interview with the newspaper Time, the magnate then emphasized the need to address what he considers "an unsustainable migrant crisis for the country," using the Police, the Army, and not ruling out the creation of detention centers for immigrants.
"We have no other option," declared Trump, who frequently criticizes the massive arrival of immigrants and their admission at the borders.
"Probably 15 million and perhaps even 20 million by the time Biden leaves [the presidency]. Twenty million people, many of them from jails, many of them from prisons, many of them from mental institutions," he pointed out.
He even said that Venezuela and other countries are becoming much safer, suggesting that "criminals" have emigrated. On that occasion, Trump pointed out that the United States already has a new category of crime: "migrant crime".
The former president highlighted the importance of using local police in this operation and ensured that it would begin by deporting criminals entering the country. He mentioned the possibility of using the National Guard and even the army if necessary.
Regarding the collaboration of state and local police departments, the former president suggested the possibility of offering federal government funding incentives for those who decide to participate in the operation; although he acknowledged that probably not all states in the country will support it.
He said that the operation will be based on the one carried out in the 1950s by Dwight Eisenhower, who conducted a massive deportation of people.
During the campaign for his 2016 candidacy, when he was elected as President of the United States, Donald Trump also championed an anti-immigrant discourse.
In November of last year, he also put immigration at the center of his political discourse when he announced a radical approach to his immigration policy if reelected president in 2024.
