The Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned the violence in the United States on Saturday following the attack against Donald Trump in Pennsylvania and blamed the "gun business" for events like this.
As victims of attacks and terrorism for 65 years, Cuba reaffirms its historical stance of condemning all forms of violence. The arms trade and the escalation of political violence in the US lead to incidents like the one that took place this Saturday in that country," said in a message posted on its X account.
The Cuban chancellor Bruno Rodríguez also published on his profile the statement of the Havana regime regarding the incident, which left a Republican injured in one ear: "We condemn the attack against former President Donald Trump and repudiate the act of violence committed this afternoon in Pennsylvania," he stated.
The Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro also denounced the attack and wished Trump a speedy recovery. "We have been adversaries but I wish him health and a long life," Maduro said during an electoral rally in his country.
Donald Trump's presidential campaign reported that the former president is "doing well" and was "being checked at a local medical center" after the shooting incident, where the shooter was taken down.
While he was speaking, gunshots were heard and Donald Trump put his hand to his ear, from which what appeared to be a trickle of blood was flowing. He was immediately escorted off the stage, but not before asking for a moment to raise his fist.
The Secret Service confirmed in X that Trump is safe and that the incident is under investigation.
President Joe Biden, who is in Delaware, has been informed about the incident and stated that there is no place for violence in the country.
