The businessman and financial magnate Elon Musk, one of the richest men on the planet, will support the presidential campaign of the Republican candidate Donald Trump, with a "juicy" monthly contribution of 45 million dollars.

According to the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter, this commitment will be channeled through a new super PAC called "America PAC," which aims to register voters, promote early voting, and encourage mail-in ballots in key states.

Without a doubt, this support from Musk, one of the most influential people on the planet, with 190 million followers on his X platform, represents a significant advancement not only for Trump's campaign, but also in the relationship between both.

As CNN recalls, one wants to abandon fossil fuels and convert all car sales worldwide to electric vehicles. The other believes that electric vehicles will be an economic disaster for the United States and that the nation should produce and burn more oil.

However, since the Saturday attack against Trump, the also owner of the company Tesla has been following the events and criticizing the security of the Secret Service.

Throughout the years, Musk, who has a net worth of 264 billion dollars, has contributed to candidates from both parties, including a donation of 5,000 dollars to Barack Obama in April 2011. Although historically he has been a Democratic donor, he has recently criticized the party for moving too far to the left.

But those relatively insignificant amounts pale in comparison to the sum that is now reportedly being donated to the Republican candidate, El País asserts.

After receiving enough delegates' votes at the Republican National Convention, Trump is now the official candidate of his party to compete in the upcoming presidential elections in the United States on November 5th.

Although for months the former president was the virtual designated candidate, his nomination was officially formalized this Monday in Milwaukee, where the Republican event is taking place.

In this way, the former president will compete in his third consecutive election, having won in 2016 and lost in 2020.

"America PAC" is currently the external organization that spends the most on support for Trump, having allocated $15.8 million so far, of which $13.1 million have been used for field operations, revealed El País.
