Family and friends of Cuban nurse Danay García Hernández, who passed away this Monday in Texas, requested financial assistance to cover the expenses for her funeral in the United States.

García, 49 years old and the mother of a teenager, passed away as a result of lung cancer, which she battled against for a long time. A source close to her circle said to CiberCuba that she was hospitalized due to complications from the illness and suffered two cardiac arrests that led to her death.

Thathy Abraham, Garcia's colleague and friend, launched a request for help to raise funds that will allow her family to cover the costs of funeral services.

"I would like all of Danay's friends to help her. Her body is still at the morgue. We all know how expensive it is to move a body. If each of us contributes a little, we could help her mother, who is elderly, and her son is still very young," Abraham requested.

Damarys García, sister of the deceased, shared the message on her social media. Addressing doubts and comments that some people expressed about the credibility of the request, she stated: "Please support this idea to help with my sister's burial. This is not a scam. This young lady is a coworker of my sister who just wants to help us in this very sad moment. Any doubts, please call the same contact as my sister, which my mother has at the moment."

The person who wishes to collaborate can contact the numbers +1 (469) 650-2701 and +1 (469) 490-8666, the note indicated.

García arrived in the United States in 2022, after residing in Ecuador for approximately seven years. She is survived by her elderly mother Mercedes and her young son Caleb, with whom she lived in the U.S., and other relatives in Cuba. She was a native of the province of Artemisa.

His death has caused deep consternation among family, friends, and colleagues, who have posted messages of remembrance, affection, and admiration for him on social media.

I just woke up to this sad news, my friend Danay, with whom I shared so many years living the moments of adolescence that no longer exist. You gave me so much strength, sister, and you left without us seeing each other again. Fly high, my friend, may God have you in a beautiful place,” wrote Iraida Espinosa.

How sad, I am very depressed. Our whole family is moved by this news, you left us very young, with many plans and us looking forward to meeting again; but what lifts me up again today are the promises of the Lord that one day we will meet again and it will be forever," were the touching words of one of his relatives.

We have lost a great friend, condolences to her family, neighbors, and all those who had the privilege of knowing the great person she was. Farewell Dany, we will carry you deep in our hearts, and you will remain present for everyone, expressed another friend.

Professionals who worked with García in Ecuador also expressed to CiberCuba that she was an excellent person and nurse.
