A free food module will be delivered with two cans of sardines in Sancti Spíritus for July 26th.

The products are transported from Ciego de Ávila in containers, and once all are completed, the modules will start to be distributed to the population.

The Ministry of Commerce announced the delivery of a free food module in Sancti Spíritus, a province that will host the next national event for July 26, as a "gift" to the population for having earned such a "distinction."

Eliosbel Martínez Hernández, director of the Wholesale Food Company in the area, explained that the 190,816 households will receive two kilograms of rice, one of sugar, another of pasta, and two cans of sardines.

According to the executive, since the end of last week, containers with products have started to arrive from Ciego de Ávila.

"There are a total of 48 containers, and once all the products are completed, the modules will begin to be distributed to the population. We hope that all the containers will arrive this week," he told the Escambray newspaper.

Martínez Hernández stated that all the logistics have been organized to ensure the fastest possible transfer, in coordination with the provincial government.

"Our forces are already working on the formation of the modules and are preparing for this distribution so that it reaches the population as quickly as possible," he specified.

Amid the current economic crisis in Cuba, the government distributes free modules of a few food items that do not solve the chronic shortage situation faced by most families.

These modules began to be distributed for free from the donations that arrived in Cuba after the protests of July 11, and also due to complaints from people because the State was selling food to the population that had been donated by other governments.

The government began the distribution of the famous free modules in Havana, precisely in July 2021. Initially, they were products donated by Mexico, Russia, Nicaragua, and Bolivia following the protests. That first pack included spaghetti, Chinese beans, rice, and sugar.
