The Cuban reggaeton artist José Manuel Carvajal Zaldívar, known as El Taiger, was arrested early this Sunday for armed robbery and assault, according to the police report.
The report states that the popular singer was arrested at 5:41 am on Sunday.
The circumstances of the arrest are unknown, but the influencer "Un Martí to Durako" indicated that allegedly El Taiger was detained following an accusation from his girlfriend.
A bail of 1000 dollars was set for these offenses.
The singer was out on bail of 2500 dollars for a previous offense of cocaine possession, the police report states.
The record indicates that he is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center (TGKCC).
The artist has gained notoriety on the international music scene with several hits in the reggaeton genre.
The most recent success is "Marca Mandarina," where he collaborates with another musician from the island. This could be the song of the summer and has already surpassed 11 million views on YouTube.
Despite his success in music, El Taiger is facing a difficult legal situation in the United States: Last June, the reggaeton artist was arrested for driving with an expired license and for committing another offense, while in April he was arrested in Miami-Dade for possession of substances and alcohol.
