Manuel Marrero visits Iran for the inauguration of President Masoud Pezeshkian.

The Cuban regime seeks to strengthen its economic and health cooperation relations with Iran. This will be another mission of Marrero Cruz's visit to the heart of ancient Persia.

The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero Cruz, arrived in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, early this Monday morning.

His trip takes place amid a severe economic crisis in Cuba and just weeks after the island's government protested for being on the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, alongside Iran, Syria, and North Korea.

Marrero heads the Cuban delegation that will attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The ceremony is scheduled for July 30, and the Cuban Prime Minister will be on an official visit to the country until August 1.

In the State Protocol Hall, Marrero Cruz thanked for the welcome received by the Cuban delegation and underscored the historical relations between the island and Iran.

He highlighted his intention to strengthen economic cooperation ties during his first visit to the Persian nation. "Political links are at the highest level, and there is much agreement in the international sphere," stated the Prime Minister.

Marrero noted that there is still room to improve economic and trade relations between both countries. "We have identified areas of interest, one of them is Health," he explained.

The Iranian Minister of Health, Dr. Bahram Einollahi, recalled the exchange of visits between Tehran and Havana, particularly in 2023.

"Iran cares a lot about Cubans," expressed Einollahi, emphasizing the importance of bilateral relations in the healthcare sector.

Marrero has planned a work program in Iran that includes meetings with Persian authorities, representatives of solidarity movements with Cuba, and members of the Cuban state mission in Iran.
