Santiagueros indignant about water supply issues: “Two months without service”

"How long will the abuse last!" a neighbor from the Chicharrones neighborhood in Santiago de Cuba shouted at a worker from the Water Supply and Sewage company.

A group of residents from the Chicharrones neighborhood in Santiago de Cuba, who have been without water service for two months, expressed their outrage against a worker from the Water Supply and Sewerage Company.

Journalist Yosmany Mayeta posted a video on Facebook where the neighbors confront the waterworks employee, telling him the truths about the lack of water service.

"How long will this abuse last!" a woman is heard saying.

He pointed out that his area already has water service; however, they do not. "And they are going to cut off the water at 5:00 PM."

"Tremendous lack of respect," said the very annoyed person.

The Chicharrones neighborhood has been experiencing water supply problems for several days, with the regime doing nothing for them.

Recently, a group of residents from the neighborhood reported that they have been without service for 43 days, and they only found relief when a neighbor bought a water tank and shared the vital liquid with the community.

Journalist Mayeta shared a video on Facebook showing the neighbors of Calle 20 Alto carrying water using buckets, containers, jerrycans, and any type of vessel.

"The crisis is spreading to other peripheral neighborhoods of the city, and the Aqueduct and Sewage Company 'Aguas Santiago' has failed to solve the constant breaks in the main pipeline, known as 'La Maestra' by many people from Santiago," he pointed out, highlighting that recently more than 80 percent of the city was left without service.

Bricella Hernández, an oncology patient from Santiago de Cuba, reported on social media the inefficiency of those responsible for public services in that city.

Hernández, who has undergone 25 surgeries, a cystostomy, and suffers from urinary incontinence, as well as multiple health issues, expressed on Facebook his frustration with the lack of response from those responsible for the water supply.
