A group of residents from the Chicharrones neighborhood in Santiago de Cuba, who have been without water service for two months, expressed their outrage towards a worker from the Water and Sewage Company.
Journalist Yosmany Mayeta posted a video on Facebook where neighbors confront the waterworks employee, telling him the harsh truths about the lack of water service.
"How much longer will this abuse continue!" is heard a woman saying.
He pointed out that his area already has water service; however, they do not. "And they are going to turn off the water at 5:00 PM."
"Such a tremendous lack of respect," said the person, visibly upset.
The Chicharrones neighborhood has been facing water supply issues for several days, with the regime doing nothing to assist them.
Recently, a group of residents from the neighborhood reported that they have been without service for 43 days, and they only found relief when a neighbor purchased a water tank and shared the vital resource with the community.
Journalist Mayeta shared a video on Facebook showing the neighbors on Calle 20 Alto carrying water using buckets, tubs, tanks, and any kind of container.
"The crisis is spreading to other peripheral neighborhoods of the city, and the 'Aguas Santiago' Water and Sewer Company has been unable to resolve the ongoing breaks in the main pipeline, known as 'La Maestra' by many residents of Santiago," he noted, highlighting that recently more than 80 percent of the city was left without service.
Bricella Hernández, an oncology patient from Santiago de Cuba, publicly denounced the inefficiency of those responsible for public services in that city on social media.
Hernández, who has undergone 25 surgeries, a cystostomy, and suffers from urinary incontinence, along with multiple health issues, expressed his frustration on Facebook regarding the lack of response from those responsible for the water supply.
