Former President Donald Trump launched strong criticism against the current U.S. government, holding it responsible for the situation in Venezuela, stating that "the sanctions on Maduro should never have been lifted."

"Crazy Kamala Harris should never have lifted Trump's oil sanctions against Maduro," he expressed in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social.

For the Republican candidate in the upcoming presidential elections in November, "She made one of the worst deals of all time! Crazy Kamala helped lead the charge to free Maduro's top money launderer and his two convicted drug-trafficking nephews in exchange for an obviously false promise of free and fair elections for the people of Venezuela," he stated.

“They were neither free nor just! Look at what is happening now: Maduro sold his oil, met with his money-laundering nephews and drug traffickers, and the Venezuelan people have nothing,” lamented Trump.

He said that now "Venezuela is destroyed and its wonderful people are in ruins and dying."

During his presidency, Trump imposed strict sanctions on Nicolás Maduro's regime. Recently, the U.S. government eased those sanctions, allowing Venezuela to freely sell its oil in exchange for fair elections.

The easing of these measures was not lifted even when the chavismo challenged the candidacy of opposition member María Corina Machado, which already indicated that the electoral process would not be as fair as intended.

The political climate in Venezuela has become more tense following Nicolás Maduro's declaration as the winner of the presidential elections, a decision that has been strongly rejected by the opposition.

On July 29, the National Electoral Council, a chavista authority, announced Maduro's re-election, a result that immediately sparked protests and opposition from a significant portion of the population.

Meanwhile, opposition leader María Corina Machado spoke at a press conference and stated that the real winner was Edmundo González: "We have evidence of the truth."

The opposition's count shows that Nicolás Maduro received 2,759,256 votes, while González obtained 6,275,182 votes, winning in all the states that make up the South American nation.
