Al2 El Aldeano is one of the many artists who has spoken out in light of the elections in Venezuela, but his support for the people who have taken to the streets to demand their freedom and reject the re-election of Nicolás Maduro has been through music.
The Cuban rapper released a song on Tuesday in which he fiercely attacked Maduro and the Chavista dictatorship.
“Freedom for my brothers. Hip-hop ‘Con100cia’ available on my YouTube channel,” announced the Cuban artist on his Instagram profile along with a snippet of the song he shares with Raymond Daniel.
In the lyrics, Al2 makes it clear that it is a debt he had with his brothers from Venezuela, because the reality of his Cuba has not been different from that of the South American country.
"It was just a bad dream / Love awoke / The truth does not die / The fear is over / The light covers us now and faith does not weigh / Venezuela free, Maduro we want your head," says the song at the beginning.
"I felt in debt on this topic because everyone knows / Fidel pays for every emigrant and for every corpse / A dirty democracy, a serious economy has to go down like all the statues of Chávez / Even if you deny it, the majority is dissatisfied / The press lies so that people stay misinformed / For the people of Venezuela, I feel immense pride," is heard in another part of the lyrics.
In each stanza, Al2 not only summarizes what happened after the elections on July 28 but also the sad and declining reality of Venezuela for several years.
For the rapper, what has been happening since last Sunday, with the people in the streets demanding the end of the dictatorship in that country, is an example to follow for Cubans.
