Cubans under other flags in Paris 2024: Andy Díaz, a bow to silence

His results cause seismic movements in the men's triple jump, such as when he won the Diamond League in two consecutive seasons (2022, 2023).

Without the media spotlight of other stars in athletics, the Cuban nationalized Italian Andy Díaz will arrive at the triple jump in Paris 2024 among the favorites for the gold medal, although some specialists and followers do not mention his name when making predictions.

Díaz, who distanced himself from the sports movement on the island in 2021, seems to work quietly, but his results cause seismic movements in the specialty, like when he won the Diamond League in two consecutive seasons (2022, 2023), with great stability in his marks.

At 28 years old, she will now have the opportunity to compete in the Olympic Games with greater athletic maturity and alongside coach Fabrizio Donato, a bronze medalist in the triple jump at the London 2012 Olympics.

According to the magazine El Estornudo, Donato welcomed him into his own home, and according to the Cuban, it has helped him grow both personally and in sports.

Andy is no longer that unstable jumper when he represented the largest of the Antilles. The one who sometimes shrank in competitions. Currently, he competes without a hint of nervousness and aims to place himself at the top of the awards podium.

Many forecasters forget their name for their personal brand (17.75) - it’s worth considering - because it seems small compared to the more than 18 meters held by their compatriots Pedro Pablo Pichardo (Portugal), the reigning champion, and Jordan Díaz (Spain). However, it is quite strange that it doesn't exceed 17.60, and that alone is a notable guarantee.

Without a doubt, Andy, Pichardo, and Jordan form the leading trio in a modality full of skill and could potentially leave a podium of Cubans under other flags in Paris.

However, the official delegation of Cuba will present Lázaro Martínez, indoor world champion in 2022, and the always competitive Cristian Nápoles. We cannot forget the Burkinabé Hugues Fabrice Zangho and the young Jamaican Jaydon Hibbert either.
