Carlos Massola's daughter seeks help for her mother: "I'm afraid she will leave with my dad."

The young woman has requested a medication that her mother urgently needs.

Jessenia Queralt Massola Sablón, daughter of the late Cuban actor Carlos Massola, asked for help on social media to obtain penicillin for her mother, who urgently needs this antibiotic to recover from lymphangitis.

"I am making this post asking for help for my mom, who is very sick, and I'm afraid she might leave us like my dad. We truly need help. Contact 53848662. The help is for penicillin," wrote the young woman from her father's Facebook account.

"I don’t have the funds right now to buy it so my mom can heal," added Jessenia, who shared two photos on the mentioned social network showing the condition of her mother, Bertha Mariela Sablón Roque's legs.

In a moving video posted from her dad's profile, Jessenia reiterated her pleas for help and indicated that she is very afraid of losing her mother as well.

He said that he feels embarrassed to ask for help in this way, but that he has no other way to access the medication they need.

In the comments section of both posts, several people expressed their willingness to help her and asked for her address.

In an interview with Cubanet in mid-July, Jessenia -who is 18 years old- showed the humble conditions in which she and her mother live, as they work as independent weavers.

In that interview, Jessenia mentioned the illnesses that she suffers from despite her youth, among which she listed dyslexia and hemolytic anemia, which her father helped to combat by providing her with vitamins and other medications, as well as assisting her with nutrition.

Currently, the ashes of the actor, who passed away at the age of 62 from hypovolemic shock in his apartment in Cerro in the early hours of July 3, are at his daughter's home. This was stated by Bertha Mariela Sablón Roque, the ex-partner of Carlos Massola and mother of Jessenia.

In recent years, Massola had become an uncomfortable figure for the regime due to his denunciations of the abuses of the Cuban government, and his death was completely ignored by the cultural authorities of Cuba. No official cultural institution or state media commented on his passing.

Despite the silence in the official realm, Massola received tribute from many of his colleagues and the affection of the people, who appreciated the courage of the actor in expressing his political ideas and denouncing the government for its ineffectiveness, human rights violations, and repression of freedoms.
