Mexican tourist recounts how he was scammed while trying to exchange 100 dollars in Havana.

The incident occurred this week in Havana.

"Hernanditoz," a Mexican YouTuber who is currently visiting Cuba, recounted how, shortly after arriving in Havana, he had 100 dollars stolen from him that he wanted to exchange for national currency.

He trusted someone he met on the Malecón in Havana who supposedly would change them for him, and ended up without a single coin or the other.

He recounts that on one of his first nights in the Cuban capital, he was at the Malecón when a very sociable and friendly young man approached him. After a pleasant conversation, he asked him about the possibility of exchanging money.

Neither short nor lazy, the cunning Cuban took him to walk through some areas of Centro Habana in search presumably of a good price.

Hernanditoz says that the plan was to receive 30,000 pesos for 100 dollars, meaning valuing the U.S. currency at 300 pesos.

It turns out that his newly discovered friend had told him several times before the tour that ended in a scam that "he would not rob him, that he was reliable," something that the Mexican apparently believed without question.

He was not assaulted, he was not physically attacked, but during one of those turns in search of a place to change, the Cuban told the Mexican something like "wait for me here, I'll be right back"... And he never returned.

"I'm just telling you this so you know what to expect when you come around here," Hernaditoz warned resignedly, asserting that the hosts of the house where he is staying in El Vedado finally exchanged his money and also gave him some advice.

"They wrap you up, the truth is you feel like it's your friend, but in reality, it had other dark intentions," concluded the Mexican, who, although he regretted what happened, was pleased to add another experience to his journey.
