The Provincial Road Safety Commission of Havana reported that the Fifth Avenue tunnel in Havana will undergo maintenance work from August 14 to August 21, 2024.
During this period, the intersection will be closed to traffic in the Playa-Plaza direction from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Subsequently, from August 23 to 31, work will be done in the opposite direction (Plaza-Playa), also during the same hours, reported the official portal Cubadebate.
To ensure mobility during these works, drivers are advised to use the following alternative routes:
-From the beach to the plaza: Avenues 41, 31, 7th to Línea.
-In the direction from Plaza to Playa: Streets Línea, 23, 31, and 41.
Additionally, pedestrians are informed that the tunnel will remain open for crossing in the direction where maintenance is not being conducted.
Regarding the work, the Minister of Transport in Cuba, Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, stated on the social network Facebook that "it does not have the complexity of that carried out in the tunnel of the Bay of Havana."
While sharing the press release from Road Safety in Havana, Rodríguez Dávila added, “we will return to the goals and scope of the projects in other publications.”
