Cuban singer and songwriter Willy Chirino sends a message of hope to the Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado through his son.
Willy briefly spoke with Ricardo Sosa Machado on Saturday at Bayfront Park in Miami, where thousands of Venezuelans gathered for a demonstration in protest against the electoral fraud committed by Nicolás Maduro's dictatorship.
The moment was shared on Instagram on the account of the user Celia Cruz. The video shows the artist speaking to the young man while affectionately touching his shoulder.
"Thank you very much, it was a pleasure to meet you," said the boy.
María Corina Machado has three children with her ex-husband, Ricardo Sosa Branger. The three are outside of Venezuela due to the constant threats that the whole family received. Ana Corina and Ricardo reside in the United States, and Henrique, the youngest, lives in Colombia.
Last Friday, it was revealed that the Cuban exile community in Miami is preparing to nominate the opposition leader for the Nobel Peace Prize.
The proposal is based on "her brave fight in defense of democracy and human rights in Venezuela, which has made her deserving of this international distinction."
