After the prolonged interruptions that affected electronic payment channels on Sunday and Monday, the Metropolitan Bank of Cuba reported new failures in magnetic card services this Wednesday.
The entity itself announced on the social network Facebook that there may be delays in operations or that it may not be possible to carry them out through ATMs, interbank transfers, and point of sale terminals (TPV or POS), primarily.
According to the institution itself in a note published on the official site Cubadebate, a similar situation occurred at the beginning of the week, although the solution arrived within a few hours after causing significant inconveniences for users.
According to Martí Noticias, at the beginning of 2024, technical reasons in the Cuban banking system, including the Banco Metropolitano, caused Western Union to suspend its remittance sending operations to the island from the United States for more than three months.
In February, the regime of the Island also carried out a six-hour shutdown of electronic payment systems, linked to various types of magnetic cards, ATMs, and virtual transfer apps, with the aim of expanding the service and standardizing its operation.
