Daniella Levine-Cava was re-elected as mayor of Miami-Dade County with 59% of the votes, in an electoral contest where she vastly outperformed six other opponents.

Among them were well-known figures such as Manny Cid, mayor of Miami Lakes; Cuban-American influencer Alexander Otaola; Shlomo Danzinger, former mayor of Surfside; Carlos Garín, former congressional candidate for Florida's 28th district; Miguel Quintero, trapeze artist and libertarian; and Eddy Rojas, cargo and transport executive.

The mayor received 163,597 votes (58%), while Cid obtained 64,985 votes (23%) and Otaola came in third with 64,985 votes (12%) and requested a recount.

Levine Cava, who made history in 2020 by becoming the first female mayor of the county, has focused her term on addressing key challenges such as the affordability crisis and gun violence with innovative prevention programs.

His administration has been remarkable for promoting historic tax cuts and reducing bureaucracy to foster a more dynamic and attractive business environment in Miami-Dade.

The website of his campaign emphasized that Cava has worked tirelessly to make county government more transparent and effective, advocating for everyday issues and improving the quality of life for all residents.

This Tuesday, primary elections were held in the state of Florida, where voters selected representatives for the House of Representatives and the Senate, mayors, commissioners, school board members, judges, and other local offices.

The polls opened at 7:00 am and registered residents went until 7:00 pm.
