The Cuban runner Yamel Luis Vives won the silver medal today, and the first for Cuba at the XVII Paralympic Games in Paris 2024, in the T44 100 meters category, with a time of 11.20 seconds.

With the time achieved from the Stade de France, the Cienfueguero set a record for America.

In first place was the South African, Paralympic and world record holder, Mpumelelo Mhlongo with a time of 11.12 seconds. Meanwhile, the bronze went to the representative from Malaysia, Eddy Bernard (11.58).

In April, Vives had emerged victorious in the Grand Prix of Paratletismo Moulay El Hassan, in Marrakech 2024, stopping the clock at 24.12 seconds in the 200 meters of the T44 category.

Last Friday, Cuban Raicel González finished in sixth place in the 100 meters, category T46/47. Meanwhile, para-shooter Alexis Reina (S1) placed fourth in the 10-meter air pistol, which had been, until this Sunday, the best results for Cuba in the Paris event.
