Cuban singer-songwriter Amaury Gutiérrez was detained this Tuesday at the Cartagena airport in Colombia after an altercation with an Immigration officer.

As a consequence of the incident, the artist, a resident of Miami, was denied entry to the South American country.

It all started with a brief and enigmatic post on Facebook that said: "Impossible to enter communist Colombia. Bye family."

Shortly after, Amaury Gutiérrez clarified what happened.

"Arrested at Cartagena airport in Colombia for calling an immigration officer a communist who treated me like a c... Never in my life have I been treated so badly, only in Cuba when I was a slave. God has a purpose for everything. Blessings, family," he wrote alongside a photo in which he was seen sitting next to his luggage.

In the early hours of this Wednesday, Amaury Gutiérrez shared a statement with his followers in which he warned that his tour in the South American nation, scheduled to start this Friday, might have to be postponed.

"Unfortunately, I find myself in the position of having to inform you that my scheduled performances in Colombia may have to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control," wrote the interpreter of Balsero.

Amaury Gutiérrez clarified that the Immigration Department of Cartagena did not allow entry into the country for him or his team.

"Currently, we are being held in conditions that are not the best. They are not letting us return to Miami or go to another country on a different airline, only with the one we came with and directly to Miami," added the singer-songwriter, who indicated that there were no available flights to Miami until today.

The artist said that he was in a locked room with his manager and was forced to spend the night sleeping on the floor.

"I deeply regret the inconveniences this may cause to all those who were looking forward to enjoying our performances. We appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult and uncomfortable time for us," he said about the cancellation of his tour.

In the final segment of his publication, the artist expressed his gratitude for the love and unconditional support he has received from his friends and his audience in recent hours, and he stated that he will inform about any other updates.

In the comments section of his posts, several artists expressed their solidarity with the singer, including the renowned trumpeter Arturo Sandoval.

"Dear Amaury, I am very sorry that you have to go through such an unjust and uncomfortable situation. It clearly shows what a leftist government is capable of. I hope you can return soon and that this is just another example of what these oppressive regimes are capable of," Sandoval wrote.

"You are already an American citizen, never be silent in front of a communist," pointed out the comedian Boncó Quiñongo.

The Colombian tour of Amaury Gutiérrez was scheduled to take him to perform in Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Montería, Cali, and Cartagena between September 6 and 14.

As of the closing of this report, there are no other details regarding the incident that led to the drastic decision to deny entry to Colombia for Cuban singer Amaury Gutiérrez.
