An image that depicts the misery and scarcity in Cuba, and at the same time is very concerning, was shared this Monday on social networks, provoking various reactions among internet users.

Journalist Yosmany Mayeta shared a photograph on Facebook showing a man transporting a small girl in a box placed in the back of a bicycle in Santiago de Cuba.

"This unfortunate image, where an irresponsible father carries his daughter in a box on the back of the bicycle, leaves much to be desired," pointed out the communicator, informing that the photo was taken on the busy Patria Avenue in the city of Santiago de Cuba.

Additionally, the journalist pointed out: “Exposing your daughter to a danger like this is not synonymous with loving someone,” a message that, along with the image, sparked controversy among followers.

Héctor Aponte Ávila said: "People don't think and because they don't think, things happen. Then they regret it. The level of unconsciousness is very high."

For her part, Mar Pérez expressed: "This is regrettable, the desperation, the hunger, and the misery that our brothers suffer do not allow us to think about the consequences of actions. That father may not even have enough to feed his daughter, he has no way of transportation, and public transport is as if it doesn't exist. Let's not judge without being in their shoes."

Similarly, Beatriz Barrios sparked the debate: “Irresponsible parents who put their children's lives at risk. A few days ago, I saw a mother carrying her 2-year-old daughter standing in front of her; I was horrified when I saw that. Any bump, a sudden stop, could cause that little girl to fall off that motorcycle.”

However, the Cuban government acknowledged the transportation crisis in the country, revealing that more than half of the provincial routes are paralyzed, as reported during the session of the Cuban Parliament last July.

Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila, Minister of Transport (Mitrans), indicated that by the end of April, 52% of the routes of the provincial transport companies were paralyzed, according to the state newspaper Granma.

Rodríguez admitted that the situation is more critical in the provinces of Camagüey, Granma, Villa Clara, Ciego de Ávila, Holguín, Matanzas, and Artemisa.

The ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel has also acknowledged the disastrous transportation situation in Cuba, but stated that it is a phenomenon linked to the global crisis.

During the YouTube program "Desde la Presidencia," which he hosts himself, the ruler stated that the sector is experiencing the "worst moments in recent years."

An example of this is that last June, images circulated on social media showing dozens of Cubans waiting for up to five days on the list at the bus terminal in Havana.
