A Cuban woman requested help through social media to alleviate the extreme poverty situation in which a young mother and her one-year-old baby live, in need of household items and resources to make their home more livable.

Identified on Facebook as Yuliet Gómez, the internet user described the situation in which the young Yudisleidi and her son find themselves, residing in the community of San Germán, Urbano Noris municipality, in the province of Holguín.

"I earnestly ask for the help of anyone whose heart these images touch and who wishes to help with anything. Nothing new is requested; it can be used. This is a friend of mine from San Germán, who lives alone in a small and humble home with her little baby who is just one year old. She is 24 years old," the Cuban stated in her post.

Accompanied by images of the young mother's home, the distress message described the living conditions of the mother and her child.

The house, a wooden structure with metal sheets, fiber cement tiles, and patches of any material on all four sides, is at the limits of being habitable for one person, let alone for raising a small child.

"At first glance, you can see her little house, which gets wet inside when it rains. She doesn't have a stove. That is her little bathroom. She lives behind the nursing home. Many know her, her name is Yudisleidi," said her friend.

The needs of the mother and her child include food, clothing, household items, toys, as well as anything that can be done to improve the poor conditions of their home.

In that sense, Yuliet offered to act as an intermediary for the aid and provided her phone number for those interested to contact her (63747643), indicating that she can offer more information about the case via WhatsApp, where she can provide Yudisleidi's contact number for those who wish to speak directly with the young woman.

Extreme poverty and inequality are spreading across Cuba.

Misery and extreme poverty are spreading across Cuba while the "continuity" government of Miguel Díaz-Canel continues to implement policies that worsen the situation and increase inequality in society.

Faced with the inability or lack of will of the rulers to find solutions, Cubans are increasingly turning to social media to seek help or organize donations for those who are most disadvantaged.

At the beginning of June, Cuban activists launched a petition for help for children living in extreme poverty in towns in the Sierra Maestra and other remote areas of the province of Santiago de Cuba.

Yankiel Fernández, coordinator of the Aliento de Vida Humanitarian Project, made a call on social media to anyone who could help with donations for the children and other residents in those communities who lack the most basic necessities, such as food, clothing, and medicine.

In mid-April, a group of Cubans delivered food to vulnerable elderly people in Havana, in the context of scarcity and inflation that pushes thousands of people to the brink of destitution on the island.

Fernández also took action and informed on Facebook that, with the collaboration of donors from both inside and outside the island, they were able to buy "food for some elderly people with many needs."

At the end of March, an elderly couple living in extreme poverty in Holguín received solidarity aid from several Cubans.

The activist Norge Ernesto Díaz Blak (Noly Blak) learned about this social case and, when interviewing the woman for the first time, she confessed that she was dizzy because she was hungry.

Díaz approached the house and discovered that the elderly were in extreme poverty and set out to help them, with the collaboration of other people.

Money and resources were raised, and some also contributed their time and labor to improve the living conditions of these elderly people, who are neighbors of Escondida, a rural village 90 kilometers from Holguín.
