Cimafunk celebrated his first nomination for the Latin Grammy, this time in the category of Record of the Year.
“Oeee, this got heated,” the musician wrote on his Instagram profile, to thank for the nomination of “Catalina,” a song he performs with the Colombian duo Monsieur Périné.
The video of "Catalina" was filmed in the La Candelaria neighborhood of Bogotá and is full of good energy, dances, and a catchy chorus.
The award ceremony, the most prestigious in Latin music, will take place on November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, and in addition to Cimafunk, other Cuban artists hoping to take home a golden gramophone include Daymé Arocena alongside Vicente García for "A fuego lento," in the Song of the Year category. The group Darumas is also nominated for Best New Artist.
Alongside them are the names of Al2 El Aldeano, Alex Cuba, Yelsy Heredia, Yeisy Rojas, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Aymée Nuviola, as well as Paquito D'Rivera, among others.
Cimafunk was nominated this year in the category "Best Global Music Performance" at the 2024 Grammy Awards. And in April, he became the first Cuban to sing at the famous Coachella festival, which took place in the California desert.
