Fire on a Turkish tugboat in Havana Bay leaves eight workers injured.

The fire occurred during welding work on a barge in the Bay of Havana, leaving eight injured, including a Turkish citizen in serious condition.

Eight people were injured on the morning of this Thursday due to an accident caused by a fire while welding work was being done on a flatbed truck located in the Bay of Havana.

The Minister of Energy and Mines, Vicente de la O Levy, reported on the social network X that the fire was immediately controlled, and that the injured workers were receiving medical attention.

Levy shared an image showing one of the injured workers receiving medical attention. In addition to the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Commander Ramiro Valdés Menéndez was also at the hospital.

Jair Morales Rodríguez, a party member, explained on the social network X that the accident occurred in a flatbed truck that is not intended for power generation, but rather is used for accommodation and logistics by the Turkish company Karen.

In addition, it was reported that "so far there are no deaths, but there are eight injured workers, one from Turkey in serious condition with life-threatening injuries."

However, the Electric Union of Cuba stated in a Facebook post that the accident occurred "at the Floating Power Plant KPS-57 located in the Bay of Havana."

Additionally, he emphasized that the incident "did not affect the electricity generation."
