Several houses in the coastal towns of Pinar del Río suffered total collapses during the passage of Hurricane Helene, local state media reported.
A report from Tele Pinar states that in the coastal town of Cortés, the sea remains furious and landslides have been reported.
There is already a housing debt to several families who lost their homes due to hurricanes Ian and Idalia, the report emphasizes.
The regime activated seven medical-surgical brigades to support the assistance to those affected by Hurricane Helene, which caused flooding due to sea penetrations, overflow of rivers, and reservoirs spilling in several areas.
In Cortés and Ciudad Sandino, heavy rains and winds were reported.
In the municipality of Los Palacios, the main authorities reported an increase in reservoirs and rivers following the heavy rains recorded.
Tropical storm Helene became a Category 1 hurricane on Wednesday and continues to gain strength rapidly in the Caribbean Sea as it moves toward the northwest coast of Florida.
Helene has maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h and is moving north-northwest at 17 km/h, which indicates that it has slightly increased its translational speed.
