The Cuban José “Candelita” Iglesias continues to shine in Major League Baseball, after extending his streak of consecutive games with a hit to 19, the best in his career in the Majors.
The current second baseman for the New York Mets has been a key player for his team, standing out with an impressive batting average of .417 (30 hits in 72 at-bats) during this period.
This streak not only marks a new personal milestone, but it is also the longest achieved by a Mets player this season, surpassing the 16 consecutive games with a hit by shortstop Francisco Lindor, according to sports journalist Francys Romero on the social network Facebook.
"Candelita" has proven his worth after starting the year with a minor league contract and is now in an excellent position to be part of the postseason of the "Big Show."
The Cuban has been essential in keeping the hopes of his team alive, contributing both with his glove and his bat, not to mention the emotional aspect, and he continues to establish himself as one of the most consistent players in the final stretch of the regular season.
