Lenny Anthony Rodríguez Pérez, a young oncology patient in Camagüey, has undergone a remarkable transformation since an urgent call for help was made in February 2024 to improve his situation.

Activist Guelmi Abdul shared two images on Facebook that showcase the remarkable transformation of the boy, who now enjoys the joy and satisfaction of having his own home with his family.

"We managed to change the life of one person, of a family. You go from witnessing a great storm to seeing a beautiful and lovely rainbow," noted Abdul, who recalled that on February 24th, several people called out for help for Anthony, as he was facing a precarious situation without proper housing or the basic resources needed for his treatment and well-being.

Moreover, he highlighted that the child is currently "completely different, with tremendous progress," after they were able, with the help of many people, to acquire a little house for Anthony.

Abdul highlighted in his post the dedication of Lena González Mendoza, who taught the child how to make handmade bracelets, "which are his hobby and also a financial help for his family."

"It's incredible what can be achieved when one wants to change someone's life," he noted, expressing gratitude to everyone who helped that family.

In the comments section, the activist invited those who wish to continue supporting Anthony's family to purchase their crafts, providing the contact information for his mother, Yusmerys Pérez Benítez, at +53 51827927, and the address at Calle Dolores Betancourt 294-altos, Reparto La Caridad, Camagüey, Cuba.

In July 2023, a Cuban activist sought help to obtain the medication needed by Anthony, who is suffering from a stage 4 nasopharyngeal tumor, with extension to the face and cervical skull, and 80% vascularization.

Yamilka Lafita, who identifies herself on Facebook as Lara Crofs, explained that the child needed the medication Avastin (Bevacizumab).

Lafita mentioned that "everything was getting better" with the child's illness, but without the medication "the pain and general discomfort returned."

Avastin helps prevent the formation of new blood vessels and is used in the treatment of many different types of cancer, according to specialized sources.
