Amid the daily challenges on the roads of Cuba, where transportation is a constant struggle, there are individuals whose simplicity and hard work make a difference, earning praise on social media for their exemplary actions.
This is the case of Mayito, a driver from Camagüey, known for his generosity and dedication to passengers, whose work was highlighted in the profile "Querido Lec Tor" in the Facebook group “Revolico Guáimaro.”
“Mayito is a man who doesn’t turn a blind eye when the bus stops are crowded or less busy,” noted the author of the post.
He also emphasized their big heart: “They are moved by those of us who need to get around; their route changes over time, and they help so much in every place they serve.”
Additionally, she highlighted his affable nature: “I have rarely seen him angry or negative towards the needs and requests of his passengers,” qualities that have contributed to his enduring success, according to the author of the post.
In the comments section, hundreds of people highlighted the values of this driver, who is indeed well-known among the passengers who ride his bus.
Miguel Pérez Francisco said: "Greetings to my friend Mayito, he is one of those who are no longer around with such a great human awareness."
For her part, Odalys Morera Torres stated, "It is very deserved that he is recognized because he is one of the few left who shows empathy for us ordinary people."
Eddy Abreu Victoria, who apparently knows him very well, highlighted his qualities: “Perhaps you don’t know, but he is the most senior member at the base, and throughout the COVID crisis, he was always on the front line, transporting patients at any hour.”
"Only those of us who have lived with drivers know the challenges they face and the money they invest to keep working. A hug and good health, my friend," said Mercedes Cantillo.
Despite the deep crisis that Cubans are facing, where it is very easy to succumb to selfish and opportunistic attitudes to take advantage of others' misfortune, or to exhibit a bad temper during the workday due to blackouts or the scarcity of liquefied gas, some individuals rise above these hardships and give their best.

"This morning (Monday) I found this Samsung A32 phone at the La Colonia Children's Hospital," the young woman noted in the Facebook group "AMAZON Santiago de Cuba.com," stating that she will only return the device to its owner.
A young Cuban found a teacher's lost cellphone and immediately contacted its owner to return it.
