Cuban-Spanish Rocío Monasterio leaves politics.

The Spanish architect of Cuban origin is known for her opposition to the regime of the island and was declared last year as "Ambassador of the Cuban Exile in Spain."

The Cuban-Spanish Rocío Monasterio announced her resignation from politics in the Iberian country after being dismissed as leader of Vox in the Community of Madrid.

The decision to dismiss her, made by the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, was made official on Wednesday, and just 24 hours later, Monasterio confirmed her definitive exit from the political sphere in Spain.

The Spanish architect of Cuban origin was in charge of Vox in Madrid for five years. She decided to resign from her position as a deputy this Thursday, saying goodbye to her responsibilities in the party and in Spanish politics.

In statements to the media, he asserted that his dismissal was decided by the general secretary of Vox, Ignacio Garriga, following the directives of Abascal.

The former deputy has stated that her time in politics was "an act of service" and that she happily resumes her professional career as an architect. She plans to build more housing in Spain than the current government in power.

For its part, Vox has appointed journalist José Antonio Fúster as the new leader of the party in the Madrid region, in what Abascal has described as a process of "normality" within the internal reorganization of the formation.

Monasterio has a radical stance against the Cuban regime, which he has denounced on numerous occasions for being a dictatorship.

She and the MEP Hermann Tertsch were declared in 2023 "Ambassadors of the Cuban Exile in Spain" at a ceremony held in the city of Miami.
